Abide With Me
Written by Scottish Anglican Henry Francis Lyte in 1847. In the African Anglican tradition, it is often sung during Evening Prayer or at funerals to express deep trust in God's eternal presence.
Original Lyrics
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
